RACE CATEGORIES

Men racing Fixed-Gear must sign up for A or B Race based on their Fixed Gear racing experience. Follow the guide in the registration to end up in the race that suits you best. The top 5 finishers of the B race may contest in the A race.

RACE MODE

The fixed gear races are held in scratch mode. Every race is decided by the order in which the riders cross the finish line at the end of the last lap of the race.

WOMEN & FINAL A GRIDDING

Riders will be gridded based on previous race results. The results will be taken into account in the following order:

• VIVI ZURICRIT 2025
• VIVI ZURICRIT 2024
• Other Fixie Crits in 2026

TOTAL PRIZE MONEY: CHF 1000

All road races are held as POINTS RACE. The races are decided by the following order:

1. the number of laps ridden,
2. the number of points scored in the intermediate and final sprints,
3. if the number of laps and points are equal, the final sprint ranking decides the final ranking.

GENRAL EQUIPMENT RULES

ADDITIONAL RACE RULE

1. At the start every rider needs to have at least one foot on the ground.
2. In order to Race every rider’s equipment is subject to inspection by race marshals. This inspection will possibly be carried out prior to the qualification-heats.
3. There will be a rider’s briefing for the fixed gear riders at 1:15 ^pm on the Startline which is MANDATORY for everyone participating. If you cannot make it this early, please let us know in advance.
4. Lapped riders must exit the course at the next best safe possibility immediately. To reach the safe exit, lapped riders must ride along the outside barriers at a moderate pace. If a lead group of 2 or less riders laps the whole field, the last group of riders (chasing group) to be lapped remains in the race.
5. Any roadside assistance during the races is prohibited.

RACE FORMAT

1. Race Category (Men):Men racing Fixed-Gear must sign up for A or B Race based on their Fixed Gear racing experience. During registration, a guide is provided to deterine the suited race category
2. Race Format: Scratch. Every race is decided by the order in which the riders cross the finish line at the end of the last lap of the race.
3. There are NO free laps for mechanicals or crashes.
4. Lapped riders must leave circuit when the sweeper moto approaches them immediately, otherwise they will be disqualified.
5. Top 5 of B RACE qualify for the A Race and are gridded in the 5th row at the Start
6. Gridding A RACE: Riders will be gridded based on previous race results. The results will be taken into account in the following order: VIVI ZURICRIT 2025, VIVI ZURCRIT 2026, Fixed-Gear Races during the 2026 Season

+++++++ ROAD RACES ++++++

• Race deciding criteria (order reflects priority):
  1. The amounts of Laps ridden.
  2. Number of points scored in the intermediate and final sprints
  3. At equal number of laps and point, the placement of the final sprint defines the definitive ranking.
• Allocation of points:
  1. Riders lapping the field will be awarded one lap gain. It is Awarded at the instant when the lapping rider or riders join the riders at the end of the main bunch (largest group of riders with the common number of laps ridden).
  2. At this moment, the lapping rider or riders become part of the main bunch, making the next rider or group down the road the head of the race
  3. Intermediate sprints take place every 5 laps for the women’s and every 6 laps for the men’s race.
  4. Points allocation per intermediate sprint: 1^st: 5; 2^nd: 3; 3^rd: 2; 4^th: 1
  5. Intermediate sprints are indicated with a green/white-squared flag hanging on the start-finish line and a bell.
  6. Intermediate sprints are always carried out at the current head of the race. With the achievement of a lap win by the leading riders the lead immediately switches to the next riders who have advanced or to the head of the field.
  7. Individual riders or groups of riders that are left dropped by the peloton suffer a lost lap if they are caught by the leading riders or the peloton.
• Team size: The maximum team size is 4 riders.
• Free laps after mechanical:
  1. After mechanical problem, acknowledged by the jury as such, the affected rider has a maximum of 3 free laps to have their equipment repaired.
  2. The rider must then re-join the race in the group they were in at the time of the incident.
  3. In the first intermediate sprint after such free lap(s), this rider cannot compete for points.
  4. If rider fails to comply with these rules, jury can disqualify rider.
  5. Bike replacement and any type of road side assistance in such case is only possible in designated replacement area on course.
• Lapped riders:
  1. Riders that are lapped twice by the main bunch (largest group of riders with the common number of laps ridden), are removed from the race.
  2. Lapped riders are not allowed to take pulls in the front of their group; the jury may remove riders from the race if they pull.
  3. Depending on the standings and the development of the race, lapped riders may be removed from the race by the jury.
  4. Bicycle changes are only permitted at the official stations designated by the organizer.
